Plagazi signs letter of intent with the Municipality of Köping

The municipality of Köping and Plagazi have signed a letter of intent for long-term energy cooperation with the intention to replace their existing waste incineration plan with a Plagazi HE-6000 plant. A Basic study has been initiated to examine the possibilities of designing a brand new waste-to-green-hydrogen plant. There is a potential to use, not only household waste, but also what today is considered “scrap” and non-combustible material, to produce hydrogen in a completely closed system, without any harmful impact on our environment.
Carbon Capture Storage
The process will involve Köping joining the CCS initiative – Carbon Capture Storage. The carbon dioxide generated in the production of heating and hydrogen will be stored away in liquid form and would thereby become Sweden’s first industrial energy plant with a negative CO2 impact. The patented Plagazi process guarantees combustion in a fully enclosed system, which at full operation has the potential to deliver hydrogen at a cost as low as 25% of existing methods. A HE-6000 plant in Köping with the capacity to handle up to 40,000 tonnes of waste per year will reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by up to 100,000 tonnes per year, while at the same time delivering district heating to Köping’s heating network.
The Hydrogen Highway
Köping has a strategic location near the E18 highway between Stockholm and Oslo. According to an EU decision, E18 is part of “The Hydrogen Highway”, and fuel demand would be assured when hydrogen gas stations will be built between all major cities in Europe.
The Plasma technology is a very interesting option for Köping. Listen to a radio interview (in Swedish) with Torsten Granberg, CEO, Plagazi AB:
